Garden with an ancient Mulberrry Tree
Notting Hill, London A wonderfully gnarly mulberry tree became the centre of this charming London garden. Replacing the existing grass around the tree with gravel, takes advantage of the natural light. The introduction of a hedge across the width of the garden gives a sense of depth, of layers - so pleasing to the human eye, beyond which there is a lawn and beyond that a previously unloved part of the garden has become a favourite place to eat. A garden store with a lead roof, in keeping with the late Georgian house, gives the garden a focal point and discreet, much needed storage. |
