Having studied Residential Landscape Design at The Oxford College of Garden Design, before setting up her own practice Lucy worked for garden designers Xa Tollemache, Mary Keen and Pip Morrison for a number of years. Lucy also gardened at Petersham House, affiliated to Petersham Nurseries in west London and at beautiful Cothay Manor in Somerset.
With a background in theatre (Royal National Theatre, Royal Opera House and Royal Shakespeare Company, amongst others) and film, Lucy makes understated, elegant gardens with a strong underlying structure to ensure there is interest year round. These good bones then act as a wonderful backdrop for abundant, informal, bee friendly, scented planting giving a sense of relaxed and gentle order.
Working as a consultant, Lucy breathes new life into mature and historic gardens, rationalising planting to ensure maintenance is manageable and utilised to give maximum impact and enjoyment.
Current projects include historic, traditional and contemporary gardens on the Norfolk coast, courtyard and country gardens.
Lucy lives in north Norfolk and London and works throughout the UK.
